Artist Details

The most formal musical training in Dave's past consists of listening to Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Paul Simon records while playing along on an ancient rusty guitar and harmonica. His high school friendship with Drake Descant (composer and freak) hurled him into a world of musical experimentation, cross genre playing, and most of all, improvisation.

Dave had played original funk/folk throughout the Northeast for a few years while writing music. He was simultaneously in school for Art, Theater, and Social Science. His music found it's way into all kinds of clubs, festivals, college radio, and even theatrical productions. He, at one point was the musical director and actor in Marat/Sade which toured through NYC and London.

In the summer of 2000, he responded to a job opening for Six Flags New England, "Banjo Player Needed". He quickly learned a handful of Dixieland tunes on a borrowed banjo for no other reason than to have a summer job. At this time, he was studying Fine Art and Design at Montserrat College of Art (Boston) and playing with the band over the summers. The music grew on him and he soon felt the need to bring this style up to date for today's venues and today's people.

While in Arizona for other business reasons, he finally visited ASU to find Jay and Steve which gave birth to the fiasco.

Dave uses a Gold Tone Tenor Special 4 string with SMP Pickups, a Gold Tone CC Tenor 4 string, and a Maple Classic 5 string.
