BG-250

The BG-250 was one of the first instruments ever introduced to the Gold Tone line and it’s the remarkable features that we keep this great player around. Its convertible resonator feature allows for an easy conversion between a bluegrass (resonator) banjo and a genuine old time (openback) banjo by simply removing the 13” resonator and mounting brackets. Like many old time banjos, this model features an openback pot assembly design utilizing 24 shoe lugs instead of a one-piece flange.  This cuts down on the weight by about 3lbs while still being able to deliver a powerful and punchy tone.  This convertible feature is great for players wanting to play in both popular styles. Other features include a bound rosewood fingerboard, a 12” bound mahogany resonator, the new GT Master planetary tuners, flat-top 20-hole bell brass tone ring, and a complete setup here at the Gold Tone Factory in Florida.

Dear Mr. Rogers
Thank you so much for the extra work that you and your staff did on building the 250 with the Tennessee 20-Hole ring in it. I just got to see it yesterday and got to play it. This instrument will stand beside any Gibson or Tennesee or any other banjo that is being made. I could not believe the sound and crisp tone with every note as clear as a bell. I know the ring does quite a bit but it has to be put into a good quality instrument and the BG-250 is just that instrument.

Thanks so much for the fine match of the wood, it is beautiful and it matches perfect. The craftsmanship and the beauty of this instrument makes it perfect. I believe that I made the best choice for a instrument and a top notch company to make it.

Thank you again for a very fine looking, sounding, playing instrument.

Mr. Rogers --

About a year ago, as a 64 year-old beginner, I purchased a model BG-250F banjo from Ron's Music Shack in Casselberry, and started taking lessons from Alan Eisenman.  Learning to play -- such as I do -- has been a real joy this past year, and I've enjoyed my banjo tremendously.

About two weeks ago I had a mishap when the little plastic key that turns the 5th string peg cracked.  I wasn't able to locate a local music shop that could provide a replacement, so I called Goldtone and spoke with Brenda.  I explained my problem and she promised to get a replacement out to me that day.  She took my name, address, and phone number, then asked if she could help me with anything else.  I told her that piece of plastic was all I needed, and then offered to give her the information from my credit card for the part, shipping, and handling.  She declined and told me that Goldtone was happy to be able to help me over my little crisis.  This very pleasant lady then took a couple of minutes just to visit with me, and when we ended the conversation I felt like I had just had a chat with a friend.

My whole point in this is that your company responded to my dinky little problem as if I was one of your most important dealers.  I realize that the cost of that little piece of plastic and the postage (plus Brenda's time and someone else's time to actually get it out the door) were negligible; but they were real, and that small kindness spoke volumes about the values projected by your company.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate the customer service attitude I encountered in my one contact with your company, but I do want you to know that you've made a friend for life here.

Thank you -- and please thank Brenda and your service department for me, too.

Hello,

Just wanting to provide some positive feedback.  As a beginner to the banjo, I browsed for reviews and information for a good banjo to begin learning on.  I ignored Goldtone banjos, only on the understanding that I believed they weren't sold in Australia.  I visited a guitar/banjo/mandolin specialist store in Melbourne Australia  with the intention of walking out with a banjo within a reasonable budget.  After listening at length of a few banjos, there was no doubt about the Goldtone BG-250.  I haven't regretted it.  My banjo teacher, who suggested I visited the store, is so impressed with my Goldtone, he too has purchased one.  Well done on a quality instrument at a excellent price.
