OT-800 Long Neck

The Old Tone Series 0T-800LN is the ultimate long neck banjo. Tuned 1-1/2 steps lower for the best singing keys, this model is ideal for the folk musician and closely resembles Mr. Pete Seeger’s famous and highly desired plunky tone.

The 0T-800LN banjo pot assembly is an accurate reproduction of the most sought after design in the classic Old Time sound, the Vega Tubaphone.  This model incorporates a fitted metal bracket band to an 11” maple rim in which the shoe lugs bolt directly to the bracket band instead of the wood rim allowing for a more solid tone and increased sustain. The 32-hole brass Tubaphone-style tone ring allows the sound to ring loud and clear with maximum sustain. Improvements to the original classic design include dual coordinator rods (instead of a dowel stick) for a solid neck fit and easy adjustment capabilities.  Other features include a maple neck with bound ebony fingerboard, a classic engraved fingerboard inlay design, a Fairbanks-style headstock, 11” Renaissance banjo head, and a No Knot tailpiece.  With final assembly and a complete setup at the Gold Tone Factory in Florida, this model delivers exactly what the contemporary long neck banjo player is looking for!

The 0T-800LN includes a deluxe hardshell archtop case.

Greetings from the Pacific NW!

Recently acquired the above referenced banjo.  A truly remarkable
instrument, and an incredible value.

Wonderful tone and sustain, workmanship, fit and finish all
impressive.

Loving my Seeger-style long neck.  I seem to be stuck in the 60’s.

Thank you,

Gary

Dear Gold Tone banjo folks,

I just received my OT-800 long neck a few days ago, which I bought through (dealer). I just wanted to let you know how satisfied I am with the purchase and how great the banjo is. Decades ago, my Seeger model Vega long neck was stolen, and I always wanted to replace it. I didn't want to spend the $3000 to $4000 they sell it for at Deering.

Your GoldTone is as good if not better than the Vega I once had. The tone is superb---the rich, robust Tubaphone rim sound I wanted in a banjo. The action is also terrific. All in all, this is a first rate instrument, not a bottom line banjo that others sell for this really low price. Congratulations to your banjo maker for building such a fine instrument. I recommend it to anyone who wants an old time folk sound in a banjo.

Best,

Ron Radosh
