BG-250FW

The BG-250FW is a NEW has all of the same great features found on the BG-250F model while offering a slightly wider fingerboard.  The nut width is 1-5/16” (standard BG-250F is 1-3/16”). We have had many requests over the years from players with larger hands (and fingers) to make a wider neck width under the nut, and we are now happy to include the BG-250FW as a standard model to the Gold Tone line.

The BG-250FW is the first professional 5 string banjo in our line. It is a vintage replica of the most famous banjo ever played in bluegrass music. All its parts are accurate reproductions of the original. In addition, we have added a maple neck to brighten the tone compared to the original mahogany necks and added a straightline tailpiece to provide extra downward pressure on the bridge creating even more volume. Features also include a bound rosewood fingerboard, a die cast one piece flange and 13” bound mahogany resonator, the new GT Master planetary tuners, a 3-ply Canadian maple rim, flat-top 20-hole bell brass tone ring, and a complete setup here at the Gold Tone Factory in Florida. For a no frills, straight ahead bluegrass banjo, the BG-250FW can not be beat for quality and tone.

Dear Gold Tone banjo company,

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for producing the wonderful instrument that I purchased recently.

First, a little history on myself. About 25 years ago when I was about 13 years old, I scrimped and saved and bought a no-name cheapy open back five string. I took a few lessons until my teacher suddenly joined the military (I didn't think my playing was that bad). I kind of moved on to other things and stopped playing. Over the years I have always wanted to grab another banjo and start playing again.

A few weeks ago I purchased a resonator banjo (I won't say who made it, but it rhymes with schmepiphone). I was unhappy with the sound and also the fact that my fingers are just too chubby for the narrow neck. I did some research online and found that you produce a banjo with a wide fingerboard and I heard great things about the quality of your instruments. I pulled the trigger and bought the BG-250FW. I could tell from the first pluck that this was going to be banjo nirvana for me. I get nice clear tones and no buzzing from my bratwurst fingers. All I can think about all day at work is getting home and strapping on good old Emmett (yes, I named my banjo Emmett) and spending an hour or two plunking away.

Thank you for producing an amazing product at a fair price!

Yours,

Tom
