(B1179) GTR (Bronze Tone Ring)
1) BELL BRONZE PRE-WAR ALLOY TONE RING…GTR TONE RING…For over a year over we experimented with bronze alloys. The pre-war tone ring from (the holy grail of the bluegrass tone), was actually at least 3 different bronze alloy formulas, depending upon the year of manufacturer. We discovered these 3 alloys, had tone rings made with each formula, and chose the bronze alloy content with the most penetrating tone. To my knowledge, only brass tone rings banjos are available from our competitors.
2) RB 12 TONE RING SHAPE… After extensive testing we found this shape to be tone superior. The top edge is rounded, compared to the typical sharp angle on the common flat top ring. The rounded edge adds more contact area for vibration transference and actually allows the head to be tuned tighter if desired. The original and our ring look and sound amazing similar.
